The world of bizarre jewelry has blossomed on Instagram, but few have made better use of the visual medium than Jiwinaia's Marisa Jiwi Seok, whose nostalgic, winking creations were made for Millennials: a silver alien head from Microsoft Clip Art, or Crystal Drop earrings with bubblegum Points, inspired by the early games flash game Bubble Spinner. Fans and collaborators include Petra Collins, Rina Sawayama and Kali Uchis, among other unutterable cool girls. Now the Milanese-Korean designer is ready to expand her cult collection with Jiwinaia for Eastpak, a three-piece bag capsule that will be launched tomorrow at the Wok Store in Milan, Farfetch.com, and on Jiwinaia's own site celebrating its debut come month and start the next chapter of her brand.
"This is the first time I've been designing bags, and it came at the perfect time, as I'd like to make more accessories in the near future!" Adds Seok, adding that she's the process in the same tedious manner The piece is handmade in Italy, where she grew up). Designers like Raf Simons, Demna Gvasalia and Jun Takahashi have recently reinterpreted the all-American bags, but as a Central Saint Martins-trained jeweler, Seok has left its mark on her label.
